my 2002 4.6 liter engine only has 5oK miles on it but it has a knock. it has had good maintenace the whole time. has never been pushed to the limit. i've had a mechanic tell me that the engine was going to blow, but i've put over 3K miles on it since then. i had another mechanic tell me that it is a well known screw up of 4.6 liter engines and that if it has run run well thus far it would be ok for years to come. can someon please give me some input.

 

What kind of oil are you using?

 

probably the cheapest i could find at kragen. dont know what "W." thanks for replying.

 

A common cause of knocking is a problem within the EGR system. Could be the valve, or blocked ports in the throttle body. Id take a look there.
