More power

What are some cheaper ways to squeeze out some more power on these 5.4's...I just don't have the pick up and go as I was expecting.

Hi.

First give us your definition of 'cheap' .

IMHO ( and a lot of others) modes in this order have given great results:

1. Custom tuning by Troyer Performance - Xcal2
2. AF1 3" or 3.5" intake
3. Magnaflow SS SISO /SIDO catback
4. e-fans
5. gear swap ( $$$ on a 4x4)

Single biggest improvement in overall performance-per-dollar, driveability/response, shifting, & power 'under the curve' is via the tuner. Gears can produce a significant kick in the pants, but they still would need a tuner to correct the speedo/shift points, and would do nothing to fix the ETC 'drive-by-wire' lag a lot of the 04+ trucks have.

Hope this helps for starters. Use the Search function in these forums to pull up a lot of relevant info to help you make a decision.

Cheers
Bubba

The Edge and the volant are a great combo....

I know I might get some flack for this but IMHO the edge is hands down better than the tune from the xcal 2

I had the xcal 2 and was happy....but I recently got an edge for some future tire changes and WOW is there a difference in the egde and the xcal.

Go for the edge and a CAI and you will be pleased.

As far as SOTP dyno I feel a quicker take off, gas mileage is better from what I have seen so far, it just pulls so much better when I get on the gas.

Hi.

Have you mentioned this to your tuner? That's not a normal experience.

Did you datalog your truck? Your Xcal2 may benefit from some tweaking.

And, just curious, who did your tuning, and were you not aware that as part of the X2's end-user adjustment capability, you could have corrected for your tire size without having to buy additional hardware?

thanks
Bubba

I just read an article on the edge evolution and from what I have heard it's pretty mean piece. Thanks for the input.
