if your swapping to the 5.4 or 4.6 your gonna want to consider a stronged tranny with it... cleanest way to swap is to change the motor, trans, puter and harness. basically get a donor truck and rape it lol

Your V6 tranny will not bolt up to the v8 engines. FWIW they are both 4R70W transmissions but with different bellhousings. You will need and engine, transmission and wire harness from a v8 truck. If you are going to go forward with the swap find 99+ 5.4 with transmission. The increase in power will put a smile on your face.

In all fairness, sell your current truck and buy one with a V8, if that's what you're after. Overall, it will be much cheaper, less of a headache, and just plain sensible. IMHO of course.

Add some 50W oil to remove the knock and sell it for a great price (AS is Where is). Then you'll have the money for a 4.6 or 5.4. You should get at least 4k for your truck which will allow you to find an upgrade!
