confirmed damaged engine.

Last year my 1999 f150 died at a red light!!. Error code p0174 p0171. To make a very long story short.. The dealership says..its a damaged engine...im thinking at 130000km NO WAY. So after 3 estimates and months later of pulling my hair out and combing this forum. Tried a new MAF, Air filter etc. started to replace the spark plug but found that was going to be a pain in the A$$. So..

I finally had a mechanic open up the engine. What they found was a valve had shot through the piston head and was resting in the cam shaft. He was more surprised more damage was'nt done to the engine!

If the lash adjuster collapses it will allow the roller follower to slip off. If it comes off in just the right way it could compress the spring and allow the retainer to fall off. Once that happens.......
