Exclamation Anyone swear by another plug other than Motorcraft?

I just got done replacing my autolight app104s with OE Motocraft platniums and they needed it, but man my truck runs like crap now! It Idles like a old harley and throws no codes (500 miles on these). My 4.6L has 160,000 and is VERY Tight engine. It ran better on the half arched, carbon to @$%! autolights! I checked everything, vacume lines, hoses, filters, etc. So I just want to get some advice on other brand stories if they ran good for you.ANY NGK,champions,bosch,accel.... plugs ,any users??? I just can't belive I dropped 50.00 on OE plugs and it made it worse!! Thanks

Yeah, I don't believe it either.

Specifically, which Motorcraft did you use?

Did you relpace the wires?

Did you, by accident, swap any plug wires?

My bet is you'll find something out of whack other than the new spark plugs (unless you mis-gapped them).

I used SP432s .they should not be gapped since they are platnium?. I did each plug one at a time so no mix up is possiable.Wires are New and are 8mm done one at a time also.
I can't belive the performance of these! It runs like garbage!

I don't.

And I agree, I think you missed something or you've got another problem that popped up. Maybe you cracked a plug during installation, left something disconnected, I dunno.

And regardless of them being platinum, they still need the gap checked and set.

Hmm, I was told not to gap them because they where already pre gapped and If I tried I could break them very easy.I wonder if thats my problem then. I've had this looked at by the tech and he told me everything looked good otherwise.

Cool

HI!... I personally hate the MOTOCRAFT plugs. Never had any good luck with them. I'vew tried a ton of plugs over the years in my F-150 and luv my AUTOLITE AR-93's. Best plugs I've ever owned.

I never heard anything bad about Motorcraft plugs. Neals motor is seriosly overclocked and may require a hotter plug compared to stock.

I think your missing something - Did you do the installation properly - if you used anti sieze you could have gotten a little on the electode. Somethings not right - redo and recheck..

I tried Autolites and Bocsh and was out $100 - they didn't work for me..

Too many people blame spark plugs for what they are doing wrong or for other problems.
First and foremost you must be sure the boots set down on the tops of the plugs and not ****ed off to the side.
That the boots are in perfect condition.
I am still running BOSCH 6241 with no trouble from those plugs. There should not be or ever be a problem with these, for example nor should there be for Autolites or Motor Crafts or Champion coppers.
A single plug can always have a problem but you don't blame the make for singular faults no more than you would blame any other part for failure now and then.
It's very easy to fall into a fixed frame of mind by doing the job a second time and correcting the first problem and then blame the plugs.

Man ,I don't know!!! I've retraced all the areas of where my hands were and what could of been bumped, smashed,unhooked... and no engine codes after 500+ miles(thought I would get aleast a misfire). I made sure I heard each plug wire snap on the top of each plug. I NEVER GAPPED THEM THOUGH, didn't think I needed too. I guess I'll pull them back out and check over the wires and plugs.Just in case I may as well put new plugs back in AGAIN just to make sure I didn't mess one up on install.

Did any of you guys gap your plugs or did you just install them how they came?? I ran a feeler gage on the new Motorcrafts before I put them in and they were at .045 all of them like clock work, however isn't the gap to be. .054?? like I said before the guys at the dealer told me NOT to gap them so I didn't..
Thanks for all your replies!
