do an online search and the standard fram has half the filtering area that other filters have.. and as was said.. the drainback valve is either non existant or substandard. FWIW... before I knew this I used a fram on my 1985 ranger since I owned it.. It has 280,000 miles, 175,000 that I put on it using nothing but fram. But still.. why chance it when the motorcraft filter is cheaper at walmart.

I don't worry about a few bucks either way when I am changing the oil---what is important is not saving the $$ on the oil but saving $$$ long-term on the truck. I use Motorcraft all th way around. I stick to what the fac specs said.
