new F150 diesel?

does anyone here know anything about this motor? Do you think ford will do a motor swap? I am not really pleased with the power of my 5.4 and it has an intake, exhaust and a chip and it is still sluggish compared to my dads f250 with the 6.0. I just want specs on the new diesel from land rover and how much it will cost to swap it in you think? The reason being is that i have to much money invested in my truck (around 8 grand in aftermarket parts)to trade it in and start from scratch again.

Right now it's between (rumored) 4.4l and 4.6l V-6 Diesel, it's not going to be out until the '09-10 model year, when the new body style is re-vamped.

I'm sure that a good mechanic will do the job for you. it will be pretty intensive, and costly ($6K + ????) but it would work.

my .02

turbo or supercharger with a good tune and beefed up tranny would kill a 6.0 with a tuner and some other bolt ons....

Ya, a much cheaper() alternative than a diesel engine swap would to install a supercharger. You'll get big gains in performance there and likely be able to DIY with some tools and a weekend.

If you want the diesel, buy a new truck...much easier and probably about the same price when you factor in what you'll lose on trade.

The engine will be the 4.4L V8 engine that is already in production in Europe. Neat technology in this engine. Its design parameters was 300 HP and 450 FTLBS torque. Depending on the emmissions certification will govern the actual output. No you cannot put it in your current F-150. Diesel engines have many more harmonics that your frame will not absorb and it will eventually crack or break it.

The 4.4-liter will be a followup on the existing 3.6-litre that is in production and they will both use the same hightech CGI in the blocks. The 4.4-litre is not in production yet. Today itīs revealed that the Cleveland factory didnīt make it so the production will be in Mexico. Cleveland is considered "non core foundry". Probably the blocks will be poured at Tupy in Brazil or Cifunsa in Mexico.

Ford's first North American-built diesel engine will be manufactured in Chihuahua, Mexico. Job 1 is expected in fall 2009 or early 2010.

Production volumes of the new 4.4-litre V8 diesel for North America and Europe will be at least the 275,000 engine..

The 4.4 is already on the roads in Europe for close to a year and is made in Turkey. The engine is a new, in house design, not a clone of any other enigne. Yes it is CGI.

What type of mileage is to be expected with the 4.4 diesel?
