Yes, acetone is a solvent from the Keytone family of solvents and is extremely hot. But it is also a plasticizer. While adding 6-8 oz occasionally won't cause the fuel system to fall off of the truck, prolong and constant useage can cause pinhole leaks in plastic fuel tanks, plastic fuel lines, seals which are plastic based. Chemtools fuel system cleaner uses it as the base solvent. But it also contains napthenics and kerosenes to stop the acetone from eating the plastics. Bet ya can't guess what Chemtool knows that this article doesn't.

the article i went by recomended premixing it before adding it to the tank and 1-2 oz of wd40 along with the acetone
