No Place for the CHT
No Place for the CHT
I'm doing a head swap from non PIs to SVOs, and there is no place to plug in the sensor. I'm sure I will have to tap it, or have a machine shop tap it as it looks to have critical dimensions.
Is there a plan B?

Really ? The Aluminum intakes had both the ECT -

And the CHT - Sensors -

Then the plastic manifolds were introduced without the ECT's - the PCM figured all temps using just the one sensor(CHT)..
So now they switched back to the ECT's again in 04? Can't they make up there mind
Hey jbrew, I think I read that the CHT won't throw a code on a '98 [in the powertrain control manual]. If thats true and its not plugged up will it do anything or will that start shutting injectors down?

My 98 has two ECTs - one to the PCM, and one to the gauge on the dash, as well as the CHT which at the moment is homeless!
After some more very close looks, I do not see enough material to tap into the casting where the CHT should be located, with out it becoming an ECT, chit!
