Check Engine Light Came On

Hello, I am new to the forum and I think its a great site. There is a lot of good information on the site. I Searched for this problem but I can not find it through search.

I have a 2001 f150 with the v6 4.2L. I recently replaced the O2 sensors in Banks 1 and 2. I also changed out the spark plugs and wires. There were no problems and the truck ran fine.

Well one morning I start my truck and I have a problem. The check engine light is on and the truck is shaking while in park. I drive it and it does shake again till I hit 15 mph and then it shakes and stops when I get up to 20mph. Then it shakes when I hit 45mhp. Any idea what the problem is? Any help will be great! I also have not gotten the code read. I am going to take it tomarrow.

We need the code or codes. Possible vacuum leak.

Ok, I found out from a trip to autozone that the engine is misfiring in #3 and #5 cylinders. #3 is the back passenger side and #5 is the middle on the driver side. I took out the plug in number 5 and it looked alright. The only other thing could be the wires or the coils.

Yet it could also be a vacuum leak, fuel injector fault, or high or low fuel pressure.

Any idea where I should start on this? Maybe replacing those spark plugs and wires?

I would change all plugs and wires plus clean the inside of your EGR valve with carb cleaner.

What did you use for plugs and wires? Did you use any dielectric grease?

I used Motrocraft plugs that I got at autozone. I gapped them and put them in. No Dielectric grease, didn't know I was suppose too, I never did on any of my older Broncos.

sounds like a vacume leak or the EGR is stuck open.. its common on those motors for the EGR to get stuck open and over feed causing it to feel like its got a miss

What kind of wires? Dielectric grease is required at both ends. Are the plugs the same number Motorcrafts that were put in at the factory?
