'86 with starting issues

I recently bought an 86 f150 with a 300 straight 6. It popped through the carb, and ive started it a few times and driven it since then, without the pop, but lurches a little till it got warm. Then I replaced the battery, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and now it doesnt start. It sounds like it wants to but then it sounds bogged down and everynow and then shoots gas out of the top of the carb, any suggestions?

Sounds like you accidently messed up the timing or firing order.

I agree: double-check the firing order.

I don't remember, but I think it's printed on the emissions sticker &/or cast into the intake somewhere. It's certainly shown in Haynes.

the firing order is correct, any reasons for shooting gas out the carb?
