Question Waking up 5.4 on '04 Expedition?

I just recently purchased an '04 Eddie Bauer Expedition. Even though I wanted atleast an '05 to get the 3 valve motor, I got such a good deal on this '04 I went for it. So now I'm trying to waking it up some and gain alittle mileage as well. I realize you don't buy an Expedition for mileage. I have installed an open air intake, and after cat exhaust since I couldn't do true duals. The truck does run alittle better, but I'm wanting some opinions on what you guys think? Plugs and coils? Any help would be great.

One of the tuners will be the best money spent.

Efans worked great. Add some noticiable power and I get about 2mpg better mileage. Got almost 21mpg on my last trip.

Question

Where do I purchase this? How much torque and hp does it add? Do you have to run premium fuel? Thanks.

Why wake it up? I know the top end stinks a little bit, but it will tow 8,000 pounds doing 80 no problem. My mom has the same vehicle and its not a scorcher, but what did you expect when buying a 4x4 boat hauler?

What do you guys think of those iridium plugs? Anyone used them? Does MSD make any coils for these 5.4?

definitly go with the tuner (hypertech or edge, its just personal preferance) and i like throttle body spacers. in combination with the intake and exhaust the throttle body spacer will add some throttle response. plus it gives you the whistle that a turbo would give you just not as loud.

So you guys like throttle body spacers? When I use to be on this site a few years ago, they said those things didn't work. Do alot of guys on here use them? Are they hard to install? Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it!

dont waste ur money on a throttle body spacer...i had on on my truck and i lost power and got worse gas mileage...i took it off and noticed more power and better mileage...the only thing its good for is a good paperweight...and i think most people on the site will tell u the same thing...

That's what I remembered hearing on here a few years ago. Nothing more than an expensive paper weight. What about these new iridium plugs and coil packs?
