Complete BS.

Just like any engine from any manufacturer ther may be a few problem ones but the 7.3 has proven to be very reliable.
The 6.0 on the other hand ......

Whatever. I'm not talking about what consumer reports says. I'm talking about people that actually have them, and keep them until they won't crank anymore. Just because everybody here thinks that TB spacers give your truck more horsepower, doesn't mean it's true, and me saying it isn't true, isn't BS. Do you have a PSD?

I am not talking about Consumer Reports either. I am talking about real world experiences from real world contractors up here that swear by them as the best. I do not own one but know several people that do. My brother in law drove his into the ground, never had a problem. He just loves to buy new trucks. He is a general contractor.

1) So anything published, like say in Consumer reports, means nothing to you? So you are basing what you have seen with a couple motors above the data given for thousands and thousand of trucks?

Ford Tech listing his thoughts on both motors

You do know that Ford is going after International in court for millions of dollars in warranty work International hasnt paid for yet? Yup sounds like Ford is really satisfied with the reliability of that motor.

Cool

HI!... Well I talked to the truck shop that works on our company's trucks. Two of the mechanics there say the 7.3L is one of the best DIESEL engines out there for small trucks. I agree. Ford should of never got rid of it. All the bugs were worked out of it and it's a proven design. You want to talk junk, then talk about the CHEBY 6.5L diesel. That is junk. We have two in cube vans at work. They couldn't pull themselves out of a wet paper bag. Constantly breaking down and have NO power.

So we all agree? The 5.4 is best...........

My personal experience with the 7.3 was great. Drove one for work back in HS and that thing had the living **** beat out of it and never gave us any problems. Was hauling 1000s of pounds all the time and was never down.

Well, I am glad all of you had good service out of yours. I guess we run them extra hard down here.

P.S. My neighbor's truck (00' 7.3) threw it's tranny this weekend. But he is a kid.

If ford wanted more power out of the 7.3 they should have put the twins on it or the variable turbo with that common fuel rail system. I agree that the 7.3 was the best, the only things good about the 6.0 are the emblems and the sound w/ a 5'' exaust. The only reason I have the 4.6 is because it was between a new '03 4x4 or a '04 2x4 w/open diff, it wasn't hard to figure that one out

i settled for my 5.4 after my 82 bronco died and i looked at the prices of the superdutys.

it pulls my mustang without any problems even though in the mountains it gives all it can. a superduty would be better though.

The PSD doesn't even compare to the cummins when it comes to durability, reliability, and overall strength.

I just did a search on ebay... 1995-2005...

198 F-350 PSD's with 26 of them over 200,000 miles.

89 Dodge 3500 Cummins with 20 of them over 200,000 miles.

Not a good ratio.

3 dodges are at, or over 400,000 miles!!!

Only 1 chevy over 200,000 miles.

You can do the same search any day of the week, and it will always be the same.

All that means is people are selling them. Guess its just your preference. My great uncle used PSDs to tow his fifth wheel from northen Saskatchewan to the southern states every winter with no problems and alot of the contractors way up north use them too. If you want a Cummins they are damn good engines thats for sure. All youll ever see for HD work trucks is either Dodge or Ford diesals

The difference between the cummins and the international, is that the cummins (that is used in the 90's + dodges) was built as an industrial engine first. It's a piece of cake for it to pull a pickup around.
