Right on Neal. Though I don't think a 5.4 is superior to a 460, I just couldn't get one in a new truck.

Yup, perfect runner, whoopin' tritons with every pull and highway cruse. Even original CPS. You couldn't get me to trade this truck unless find an identical twin with exception to having a ZF-6. Don't like the 4R100.

Nitpicky I know, but it's made by IH and just tuned by Ford.

I've an 04 reg cab, long bed and have not ever used it for towing. I have had some considerable weight in the bed, and consider this engine plenty sufficient for my use. Empty, with light throttle, I have gotten as much as 22 MPG with this truck. I expect it to last for a very long time. I'm glad I got the engine I have.

HI!... UH WRONG!!!! Ford never made a modular engine with cast iron heads. They all use aluminum. The 4.6 and 5.4 use the exact same heads. They will bolt on either engine, P.I or NON P.I.

5.4, because some(4.2) is good, more(4.6) is better, and too much(5.4) is just right.

Actually, I ordered it that way. Only option I didn't order was the keyless entry.

I wanted a 5 speed manual tranny. The biggest engine available was the 4.6. So I ordered one that way. After the warranty ran out I swapped out the 4.6 for a 5.4. I should have got a V10.

Yup, my friend got stuck with the 4.6 on his FX4 because he just had to have the 5-speed. How's the 5-speed handling that extra torque?

I am in the process of installing #4 and with new clutch. I have my eye on a ZF6-650 and T-Case from a SuperDuty. That will be the next tranny.

Yep. Perfect example of this would be if you look at the reliability ratings for the F150 and then look at them for the Expedition. Same motor, transmission, etc, but there's a huge difference in "reliability" for them. Probably the soccer moms leaving OD on all the time, running the A/C on 50* days, changing the oil once the rods start knocking and accidentally putting the shifter in "2" and leaving it that way all day...
