Electric fan worth the $$?

Hey,
I was just wondering if an electric fan is worth the money? Is it difficult to do? What all could I expect for results?

Also, any tips for removing the air pick up tube? (from driver's side header to EGR valve)

if you get the mileage increase some have on this forum of 2mpg, then you just have to figure the cost of the efan setup versus how many miles you would have to drive to recoup that cost and that would be the value to you. need more info on your tube problem. motor?vehicle?

Got a 97 F-150 with the 4.6. Its a small diameter tube that runs from a port on top of my header, up to my EGR valve. Its a metal tube, but somewhere along the lines, an owner broke it/tried to make it longer, and put it back together with muffler jb weld type ****. I just want to take it off to have it welded, cause its leaking badly.

Couldn't you spare about $50 for a new egr tube off a FORD parts internet dealer?
You will be a lot happier with the results and work.
There are at least two dealers I know about. One in TEX. and one in Wash. state. I'm sure there are more. They all use the same catalog software.

Yes I can, but it looks like it was extended... Maybe due to headers?

That could be a problem.
I would begin with a new one then extend as needed and be sure it is fully leak free.
Reason is the PCM tests this line and DPFE plumbing just after startup and cold driveaway. If the pipeing has a leak you could see a 402 or a 401 code from it.
Lots of Mustang owners put headers on and get into these problems.
The header mfger should have accounted for this because it is a legal emissions issue for most owners come inspection time..

Try www.ford-parts.com. Should take you to a Tex. Ford dealer.

well, the my 97 never had good power or mpg. is the truck new to you or have you had it awile and the power and mpg have dropped recently? you may need to hook up a scanner to see what the o2 sensors are reading

Its new to me (last august) What kind of test on the 02 sensors? I had a scanner hooked up recently, and thats how I found the exhaust leak...gave me a bad reading on the EGR valve.
