Need some help here guys. I have the '97 4.6 4X4 with the leaking lines. The dealer wants $326.00 and I can't find any at the wreckers. I emailed Summit Racing and their kit is #TRD-1127 for $45.00.

DDan1967 posted above this kit merely remotes from the filter location. I don't understand that. Has anybody installed this Summit Racing kit and is it plug and play with the filter remaining in the same location?

Not all 97 4x4`s had it from factory. My Lariat 4x4 has an early March 96" start date. Its a 97 without the remote filter setup form Ford. So I got an aftermarket kit. I think it was from Summit Racing. You can out to their web site an find the kit.
I paid $45.00 total & have had it on for about 5 years now.I love it!! My filter is right behind the bumper drives side.

Thanks for the replies. The $326.00 is kit price only in Canada, I tried two dealers and got the same price. Anyway I found a shop locally that has the same Trans Dapt kit that Summit Racing sells so I am going to install it tomorrow.

what it means is the summit racing kit is an after market universal kit that fits many aplications. I think you are wanting the summit kit to be a replacement for your leaking lines. Those are Ford specific parts. You could possibly take the summit kit and REPLACE your whole set up from the engine out, and have a custom setup. Hope that makes sense.

I saw the Summit Racing Trans-Dapt oil filter relocation kit today and it will not solve my line leaking issue. This kit is design for a block mounted oil filter setup.

Those of us with the leaking factory lines either pay Ford, find used lines from a wrecker or build our own kit from scratch.

Why not just pull the OEM remote setup off and screw the filter right back onto the block like the rest of us?

Just askin'...

I just took a quick look, it is really tight with the diff. sitting
just below the oil lines. I can't get a clear view of the block but
it looks like the junction at the end of the lines either bolts directly
into the block or an adapter plate, I just can't see.

Either way I don't think mounting the filter on the block is an option.
All opinions or experience welcomed.

That's where mine was on my 97 with the 4.6 (built in May of 96). That's where the vast majority of them were located and are nowadays too. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. IIRC, the remote filter kit just bolted to the factory nipple. Remove the adapter for the lines, and you should be able to screw the filter right onto the side of the block. Oil changes end up being a bit messier as the oil from the filter rains down on top of the diff, but at least the hoses won't leak.

edit: If the adapter for the remote filter is bolted directly to the block, all that's needed is the standard adapter for the filter to take its place. If the remote adapter bolts to the engine block's adapter, all you'll need to do is remove the remote adapter... I've honestly never looked at it to know for sure what's there. If you can snap a pic, we should be able to figger out a plan of attack.

mine is a 3/97 bulid. doesnt look like you can block mount the filter.might have to suck it up and go with dealer lines.140$ is a rip off but of those lines burst kiss your engine goodbye.
