I think there may be a problem....

Yeah, 2000 miles since the last oil change and I had to put 5 quarts in yesterday!

I got an oil light and started putting oil in. None showed up on the dipstick until I had put 5 quarts in!!!!

There are no puddles and appears to be no leak.

I haven't noticed any smoke from the back of the truck, but then again I wasn't really looking.

So I brought it in and the dealer did an oil change since the oil was pretty much black (even after adding 5 fresh quarts) and I am suppose to bring it back in once it gets a bit low again so we can figure out how bad it is burning the oil up.

Kinda funny, just the other day I was thinking that buying the extended warantee was a waste of money! I'm sure glad I got that now, I may end up with a new engine for $100 deductable!

Last time you had the oil changed - is it possible that "whoever" did the oil change forgot to put the (or enough) oil in???

They did that with mine in 2000 - The mechanic never came back from lunch and they thought it was done - when I picked it up , it had a new filter , but no oil - it didn't last a mile before it blew..

Probably has a bad bearing and the oil is burning internally. No visible smoke because of the PCV system.

Exactly lol, bang, bang, bang, banging away all the way back to the dealership - I wasn't walkin..

I remember they tried to give me a van to drive until they decided what to do - It wasn't even a FORD , lol .. That didn't fly - They gave me a F350 instead.

That's allot of oil in 2000 miles, seems like it would foul the plugs prematurely. It would redirect thru the PVC after the burn wouldn't it?

I did the last oil change and I'm quite sure I put in the right amount of oil.

If I had left it really low, I would have thought that it would have given me a light sooner. Kind of interesting that the oil light doesn't come on until the truck is pretty much empty.

I would pull the plug - 1 or 5 is easy to pull to confirm it's burning myself. That's up 2 U. Really with the warrenty - if your covered,(read the fine print) you may not have to worry about it , just take it in ..Does it cover labor as well?

I pulled all of the plugs and none of them showed any sign of burned oil. Though one of the plug holes was filled with oil.

I haven't had a problem since though and it's been over a year.

whats been over a year? the oil change? maybe someone really needed some oil and decided to borrow some of yours. there was oil in the plug bore? maybe a bad valve cover gasket? did you poor all of the oil into the crankcase without accidently spilling it onto the engine? which plug bore was it? maybe you have a bad blow by. i know my truck went through a quart of oil a week because i had a bad blow by. maybe do a cylinder leakage test.
