HI!... If I'm translating what you wrote right, it seams that the 4.6 can't pass the 5.4 (4.6 > 5.4), or is it this translating ....... 5.4 will always be ahead of the 4.6 (4.6 > 5.4). HMMMMMMMMMM......... BWAAAAAAA!

HI!... I know!!!!!!! It's typical TEXAS redneck thinking.

4+6= 10

5+4=9

So therefore 4.6 must be greater than 5.4 due to 10 is a larger # than 9.......... right? LOL!

Oh for the love of god, can't this debate stop. I own a 4.6 F-150. It runs great, has always started, never had do anything more than replace the IAC and complain about how difficult it is to change the oil, but...DAMMIT Scotty, I need more power!!!

Therefore, the 5.4 is better than the 4.6. Sorry for the Star Trek flash back...musta had too much beer this evening.

HI!... Well I'm still working on the pistons for a 5.4 3 - valve. My buddy that works at Fords say they come with flat tops. But LIVINOIS MOTORSPORTS is showing them with a 17cc dish with a cut out for the larger valves. But this could be a specific racing pistion to lower compression. From what I've read the 5.4, 3 - valve has 9.8:1 compression.

Neal, when I assembled these things, the only difference I noticed between 2v and 3v 5.4's was maybe the codes on the piston, physical piston shape etc. looked the same. The block IS the same, almost 100% on that because my buddy loaded the blocks and never had changeovers, again 99% sure. I did notice them using different head gaskets between the 2v and 3v, as well as different chain guides. I don't think there is a difference in chain lengths, sprockets, tensioner etc on the front, maybe just the guides. I noticed when cruising around the plant that many items are interchangeable, except the obvious, but water pumps, blocks, pulleys etc are the same. One thing I will note is the oil pump and spacer, pretty sure there is a difference in this area.

HI!... If your refferring to the intake manifold design on the MUSTANG then NO.

Any intake manifold where the TB is mounted to the very front of the plenum has problems with the distribution of incoming air to the individual cylinders. This has been a known problem. The older Camaros (IROC) had this same problem. Some cylinders run rich, others run lean. The optimum set-up is to have a top mount TB into the plenum to equalize the intake ports evenly. Ford and Chevy use this intake designs due to space restrictions under the hood in tight engine compartments.
