351 W Vs 5.4

has anybody swapped a 5.4 for a stroked 351W??

is this a feesable swap? or will it cost too much to make it worth while?

just looking at options

and was planning on using the monsterbox 4r70 trans

I'm sure it's been done, but probably not for a streetable vehicle, rather for racing.

First of all, nothing, and I mean NOTHING you have now will work. You will need to rip out your computer, wiring harness, everything. You could use the injection system and wiring harness off a 89-93 Mustang, and a fuel-injection 351 intake. You would need to build some custom motor mounts, go with a C-4, C-6, or AOD tranny (no 4r70 for you!), a custom drive-shaft, all new accessory brackets (out of a 351 truck), all new accessories (your alt, PSpump, etc, won't work with the new brackets), all new dash gauges (like Autometer, your are controlled by your computer which would go bye-bye).

In short, you would have to build a completely different power-train and injection system from scratch.

The question begs to be asked WHY!? Why when you can build the 5.4 to push every bit as much power? That is, unless you go nuts with a giant blower or turbo, or you go full race with it. Then you would go push-rod, but not a regular stroked 351 by any means.

Not really practicle, but doable in the sense that anything is possible.

There wasn't a 4R70w 351, so you'd need a custom computer to make a 4R70w from a 302's bolt pattern to work.

I think there is some EPA regs like you can put a newer engine into a late model vehicle but you can't put and older engine into a newer vehicle. Something like that???? If you live in an area that requires emission testing ??
