Original Air Intake/Air Filter Queston

I bought my truck used and as a birthday gift, my dad bought me oil,oil filter, and air filter....i look at where an air filter should be and i dont see it, i am guessing the prev owner put on an aftermarket air intake, but i dont have any idea, but i would like to see someone with a pic under the hood factory air intake, so i can see what the heck is going on...thanks my truck is a 2004 FX4...

I would strongly suggest you get a repair manual to go with your new hobby. It will go a long way. I assume you are around 16 yrs old.
It will give you a real good idea exactly whats going on when you go to tackle even the most common or simple maintance tasks as well as the more involved ones.
I would suggest the Haynes book over the Chilton. They seem much more user friendly, especially if your new under the hood.
It'll even tell you where the oil drain plug is , oil filter and AIR filter.
It'll have what type (weight) oil and how much. It'll even give step by step instructions on the oil change.
Good luck and have fun. You are at the beginning of a long learning phase.
Learn to do your own maintance and you'll save yourself a fortune in repair costs.

i had to go out and take the pics real quick and wrap my wife's presents while she was out for like 10 minutes, so thats what took so long. i am not sixteen i am 24. i joined this website for help like this. i would really like to buy a manual but i am to busy working honestly to go though it and stuff. i have had the truck for maybe 3 months, and had never really looked under the hood except to change the oil, minor maint. and etc. Having owned a 98 Ford truck with a 6 cyl engine, it was a little different. I am eager to learn about the truck, but please dont be condescending, i am learning as i go. that is why i joined this great website in the first place.

Souldn't be much at a scrap yard. I'd guess about 20 bucks.

I know his set up is different than mine since mine is an 01, but I don't see the MAF, or MAM what ever it's called on these vehicles. I know on the 04 mustang I had it was a seperate piece right behind the air box, and it's kinda the same on my 01. I guess I'm just wondering for educational purposes is their supposed to be a MAF sensor right behind the stock air box on an 04?

Since it looks like the air box is missing, you could go to an auto parts store and buy one of those generic type K&N filters and clamp it on the end of the air duct just so you have some type of filtration.
