help me fix it

what do i do a friend did something to the vaccumn line and now i can not get it to go into third and it is really hard to get into second????

Cyndee , you need to tell us what Truck & motor you have in order to help .

i have another question for everyone
would you take the truck back to the person that messed it up and ask them to undo it
???

So what did the friend do to the vacuum line? I don't know about your particular model, but auto transmissions often depend on a connection to the vacuum to know when to shift. That way it knows or has an idea of the engine speed and load at the time...newer trucks probably depend on lots of other stuff as well...

You'll have to be more specific bout what the friend did, did he/she disconnect something, move a connection or swap it, replace the PCV valve or what?

Once we know that it ought to be fairly straightforward to know what to do, in the meantime it sounds like you're not able to change up properly, so avoid driving it as firstly, it could be dangerous, not having proper power or speed, and secondly, you might damage engine or trans by over-revving.

ok he was adjusting the carb and he held up a vacumn hose and said it wasnt hooked up we dont know if he switched a couple hoses or hooked one up or unhooked one i have no idea

so i shouldn't drive it ??
thats why it wont change gears???

i can drive over there tomorrow but he probly wont remember where they go with my luck
it does not rev high because i dont drive very fast

why

i can drive over there tomorrow but he probly wont remember where they go with my luck
it does not rev high because i dont drive very fast
i also had the guy next door look at it and i dont know if he messed it up worse
why am i so stupid to let people do this

Well, your just going to have to take it back to the guy who found that hose that wasn't hooked up - tell that you would like it back the way it was.

If you have a digital Camera - you can take some pics of what was messed with and post them on here and we will be able to help from there.

Talking hey i want to thank you

:o i just want to say thank you for all the advice
i went to a backyard mech and he had it fixed in 10 min
the main vacuumn line from the tranny to the manifold(?) was completely unhooked

but thanks again
