Engine Bay Cover missing

Here's an odd question. I hate to use the word "thingy", however...
I have a 99 F-150 4.6. Directly to the right of the battery, there is a plastic cover that, uh, covers something . Not sure what it covers, all I know is that it is now missing and I need another one. Or do I? It's a kind of C-shaped cover with a tab at the top that slips into another black plastic piece right at the top of the firewall.

Is this question annoying enough yet? Sorry!!!!

They stopped offering them after I believe 1999. Mine doesn't have one.

if they stopped offering it and it doesn't expose anything that wouldnt like water or dirt (like wires) then it should be fine. don't see why you would need one, especially if it comes loose.

it may be in your engine bay somewhere. i know i should be more careful but ive found screwdrivers and pliers in my bay that have been there for a month or more. they were all out of the way of moving parts and weren't blocking anything but it happens. plus, my truck eats sockets.
