at the shrader stem on your injector - I wasn't talking about the tank. The pressure between the pump and the shrader - The pressure in front is different then behinde the pump - fuel has a return line for excess and doesn't flow backwards - air and the gas cap means your cap isn't working lol - It' not suppose to hold air . Same principle as a cavity vent (in wall house vent)

CRAP!! It's just a filter - just get a grip , close your eye's and give it hell!! lol

Fuel Filter

If you let the truck set awhile then the lines will depressurize and you dont have to mess with the schrader valve or anything. I generally have to push the tool in 2 or 3 times before the line will disconnect. You only use the tool on one side of the filter the other end does not require the tool. Just gotta play with it a minute or two.

My truck is a 1997 4.6. Judging by the picture in your signature area your truck is one of the new ones. Something tells me that they aren't exactly the same. I'm gonna look at Napa for that tool. Because the scissor one is a POS and the plastic things are not going to go in there. Someone also said that there is no lock on one side...... judging by the looks of the replacement and that this bitch won't move I would say that there is indeed a lock on both sides. I need to get this changed. I've got a road trip to Northern California coming up. I live in Corvallis, Oregon (571 miles one way). Thanks for the tips guys, I love this forum

How would you do this without a tool? The connections are designed to hold on until all four sides are pushed in to go over the kink in the tubing they call a lock

Well, actually , I was informed in this thread that you do not need the tool on one side - one side only as far as I've heard , but on mine I have the same spring clamps on both sides so idunno.

i guess its possible being a farm truck at one point the previous owner took it to ford... but judging the condition of the truck when i got it... i assume it coulda been the stock one. this thing hadnt been touched by any rednecks until i found it.

Actually it is possible , I don't want to beleive that tho seeing how I prolly changed out over 30 or so in my truck lol. I'm still glad I have, I've seen how dirty mine have gotten. I never had one go totally bad to where it would effect the way it runs tho. I guess it's possible you have the stocker on there.

lol. i might replace it and see just how bad it is. im pretty sure its whats making the humming noise. soon as i cut the engine rpm to an idle it goes away. and it sounds like its just below my sub...
hey! maybe my sub is keeping it from packing itself full? making it settle on the bottom of the filter.. hah hah hmm?

You really can tell thru an FM receiver if it has one - The fuel pump is a bottom feeder - sucks off the bottom so crap can't build up - everything get shoved down it's throat LOL.
