EVAP and Catalytic Ready Codes

How in the world do you get the readiness codes for Evap and Catalytic systems to return to ready.
I just fixed the EGR system and following the driving instructions like "accelerate to 45 mph using 1/2 to 3/4 throttle three times" did the trick just fine for the EGR. But following the instructions for EVAP and Catalytic do nothing as far as I can tell. I have not had a code for either of those systems so I'm really not sure why they are even "not ready". I need to have those readiness codes cleared in order to pass the emissions test and renew my license plate this week.
Do I just need to drive it as usual and hope for the codes to heal themselves?
Thanks for any help anyone here can offer.

The readiness monitors will eventually run.

My Contour took three weeks......

They should complete during a good long drive involving varied driving styles. Like 45min or so of stop&go, highway, & cruising.

The EVAP monitor is the hardest to complete. Just takes a lot of steady, highway driving.

Update

I finally got all the codes cleared today and had the emissions testing done. A pass.
I took a stop and go trip thru holiday shopper traffic up to the freeway then a 65 MPH trip of about 20 or so miles.
Thanks for all the help and advice.
