Hey Jbrew
Hey Jbrew
Im pretty new here but I have noticed on several threads when it comes to ignition you are the man...My f150 4.6 just started misfiring on the #8 cylinder and after doing some searching on here it looks like it may be plugs or wires or both...I put the good Bosch wires and the autolite plugs last year....I did not grease up like you recommend...Do I need to just go buy new plugs and wires or is it too late to fix what I have? Its a 98 model and has almost 243,000 miles...has never had anything wrong with the engine except it misfires every couple years...

Ahh, hell with them , I don't give a frogs fat a$$ what they think lol.
Honestly, I have more experience with COP ignitions. First , of course, find out why 8's misfiring - make sure it's not the coil. Wires don't generally go bad that quick. I would pull the plug and see what's going on there. If just one the plug's are fouled , I would scrap them all. Your safe with Motor-craft.
Fix the Misfire issue and then, heck yeah grease them up good. That dielectric grease is some awesome stuff.
Question's - feel free to ask , there's quite a few people who know more than I that frequent this forum.
Thanx for the complement and Good luck.

Im in a world of KAHKAH here dude...Do you mean the guy who did the plugs for you last year didn't change #8. You could just change the bad one of course , if the others look good. If it were me I would change all back to OEM Motorcraft's - start fresh.
I'm sure your wires are alright. Bosch wires are good ones and should last awhile.
The busted bolt - I hate it when that happens, you did get the EGR off tho right. Well, your probably going to have to pull throttle body if it's broke off in there. A small sleeve or bushing - something that will keep a drill bit on center, you have to be in the center... Drill about 1/2 " if you have the room or drill to the bottom of the bolt . If your in the center, then an easy out extractor will work for yuh.
Fuel filter - the little plastic tool works , I like this one - a little more leverage and it's cheep - any auto supply should have one -

The trick is to insert whatever tool you use into the spring-clamp , then pull towards the filter then back the opposite way quickly.
Let me know how all that pans out for yuh
"Oh, Jbrew ! ..."
I too thought you were 'the man'.
Then I saw that can of SeaFoam.
Alas, sadly, you are no longer 'the man' - I can't possibly take aynone who uses, or advocates the use of that crap, seriously
Cheers

I will have to get the tool for the fuiel filter and I am gonna change out all the plugs with motorcraft plugs...when I bought plugs last time they were out of Motorcraft...thanks for all the help...
I cant say enough about this F150...242K miles and this is the most engine work I have ever had to do to it...I have had it for 6 years now and I am hoping my son will drive it someday...he is 7 now
...even if I have to put a new motor in it someday I wouldnt give it a second thought...the only thing that really sux about it being so good is having to wait on the dam exhaust to go bad so I can put duals on it

The 4.6 in this truck has never really given me any fits at all other than misfires...it will turn over 243K next week and it runs as good as it did the day I bought it...I guess my truck knows how much I like her and she likes me back
Most guys dont believe me when I tell them the mileage until the see the ODO..the body still looks awesome too...
