Head Upgrade
Head Upgrade
Hello All,
I just bought a '98 Expedition with the 5.4. Is it true that the newer motors make more power due to different head and intake castings? If so, would it cause any ECM problems to swap on a set of heads and intake? Does the new motor use bigger injectors?
After how many miles will I know my motor wont start spitting out spark plugs? The motor has 112k on it.
By the way, the info on the net says my truck came with one of two types of trannys, is one better then the other? Or did one come with one motor and the other with the other?
I'd like to get more power out of my truck, should I start with the exhaust or the intake side? Can someone point me to info.
Thanks

if u got to PI heads u will need to upgrade injectors and a PCM tune for 93 octane since the compression will be 9.5:1 on your engine and 10:1 on the 4.6 but there is a 50hp gain doing the PI head swap.
