Otherwise reassemble, clear code and see what happens after a couple drive cycles.

When you changed the egr sensor or "dpfe sensor", did you reset your truck's computer by disconnecting your negative battery terminal for 15 minutes? If not, you need to do that to clear the DTC. Also, while you have your negative battery terminal disconnected, turn your headlight switch to the "ON" position and let it sit like that for about 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, turn off your headlight switch, and reconnect your negative battery terminal.
Turn your ignition to the forward "ON" position, but do not start it. Watch your gauges as you do this. They should all do a full sweep, and then go back to their original positions.
This indicates that your truck's computer has been reset, DTC's are cleared, and all sensors have been recalibrated.
Your truck may idle a little rough after you disconnect your battery cable. But don't worry, it's normal. The sensors have to relearn their parameters and the ecu relearns your driving style. It could take up to 200 miles for it to relearn everything and start idling smooth again.

Help Me Inspect
I have a 99 XLT supercab 4x4 5.4. Sept of 05 I took it to be inspected and it failed code EGR. I changed the EGR. reset and drove 150 took back to inspect still EGR. I changed all the hoses going to the EGR the senser the plugs and wire. Drove it a week took to inspect failed again. Said check engine light inoperable. I took the cluster out changed the bulb still no working. Then I read the forum about the back of the cluster. Since I didn't know anything about that I got online and bought a cluster off of ebay the guy I bought it from was WRONG it was not for a 99 or 2000 because they are not interchangeable. That was $150 wasted. State sent me a letter I had 10 days to inspect. I found a cluster in Concord went and got it and put it in and of course due to the anti theft it wouldn't crank. I put the old one back in took it to Wadesboro they put it in and rekeyed it that was a total of another $250. I drove it home and on the way to work the next day the light came on. I got it plugged in again and it said O2 so I bought an o2 put it in the light came back on again. Yes I un hooked the battery each time. This was and after market sensor so I went to Zone and bought a Boush and put it in and the light still came back on and it still shows the same o2 sensor. So now I can't get my Tag because they charged me a $286 fine that I haven't paid yet. See the trick here is that you have to have 2 failed inspections within 45 days of each other and have spent $250 and they will wave it. This of course wasn't explained to me to start with. I have spent almost a grand in parts, and I have change it all myself except the 3 sensors and I had a friend who is a certified mechanic help me with them. I can't figure out why the state of NC would think a person would take their truck to be inspected knowing the light is on and it won't pass. Anyway my problem now is that the light comes and goes now I did catch it while it was off and got it to inspect this yr but of course there is next yr and I need to figure it out and fix it before then. So what else could it be and how do I check whatever it is. Also My back windo leaks and the radio and CD work when they want to, and I don't know what you all are talking about the door cracks, I don't know what to look for. I've always had Ford trucks since the 80's but I don't know if I will buy another one considering all of the trouble I have had with the last 2. I bought both of these trucks used with low miles the 95 well Ford had to replace the motor in it, and when I got it back the AC didn't work anymore. And still doesn't Dale Jarrett Ford said they didn't mess it up. But my ex husband had been by there several times to check on it he is also a certified mechanic and they had the compressor sitting in the back of the truck while they were paving the parking lot and didn't have it capped of. So can anyone help me with my 99 O2 problem the code now says slow response and I've changed everything I can think of. HELP!!!!
I'd start out by checking the wires leading up to the O2 sensor for bare spots, burn marks, etc.
You could most likely have a bad catalytic converter on the side of the bad O2 sensor. Check it at nightime in a dark place by getting your engine up to operating temperature and rev it up to 2000 rpm and hold it there for a minute or two with your park brake on. Have a friend look under there to see if the catalytic converter is glowing reddish orange. If it is, your cat converter is burnt up and needs replacing.
Good luck with it.
