Exclamation efan install

I think I've narrowed my efan selection to the troyer kit, but was wandering how hard it was to put on a 2004 f150 5.4l. And also if theres ever been any probs with overheating win towing with efans. By the way, trailer is 27' TT weighing ~7200 pounds. As always any help would be appreciated.

I'm relatively sure the fans can handle the cooling needs of your engine, but I'd be much more worried about my tranny if I were you. I'd either get a tranny temp gauge or tranny cooler or both if I was gonna do a lot of towing.

just go on ebay. buy a stock fan off a mustang GT or a crown victoria. get a relay, a thermal switch and a manual switch to turn it on when the AC is on and ur idling.

then run a relay based on when the ac clutch is on, So basically whenever the compressor is on, the fan comes one, its alot easier to wire up if you have dual fans, and do one fan for temp and one for ac compressor.

Ya, me too, one day I'll install it then forget to turn it on. It's easy and cheap enough either way. Wow, the hand vs. fan story a ways back was horrible, sorry about you're luck.

The relay is the way to go, but a lot of cars with twin fans call one fan for motor cooling, two fans when AC comes on - this is a better way to do it. Motor cooling fan should be on the hot side of the radiator, which I guess is the side with the top hose?

You can always set it to run both fans always, might be a little more drain on the alternator, but the battery works as a buffer.

The other question is whether to make the fans ignition on only, or able to run with engine off. Lots of cars do the latter, and it helps with the temperature spike you get when you switch off, so I'd say that is the way to go, you just have to be careful around the fans....and a shroud's the way to go.

I have a 92 and I'm probably going to go with a used fan similar size to the original, so I can re-use my shroud, and mount the fan to the shroud somehow, or maybe get a oem shroud with the fan and see if I can fit it.

Cheapest controller I can see at NAPA is a probe through the radiator type, I suppose it beats drilling and tapping holes in the head or thermostat housing - and I'm not sure that'd be the best place for it. Probe looks to be stainless so electrolysis shouldn't be a problem, I figured I'd put a little dielectric grease on it, just to be sure.

Good God!!! When I started reading this I said to myself, "Panic button, horn went off, bumped head...etc"...I never even thought of the remote start..

The dual controllers with Troyer's kit have both on the second fan - temp and a/c activation.

Racer -sorry to hear about the injury, but I have made that drive too, with a football of bloody paper towels on the right hand trying to shift....G luck

if u leave the fan on all the time.. then u will burn the motor up.. the fan is not needed when the truck is moving only ad idle.. ud be wasting power and dragging on the alternator more often showing u no gain in performance. also with a manual switch u can kick it on after every pass down the track incase they start hot lapin
