efan install
I think I've narrowed my efan selection to the troyer kit, but was wandering how hard it was to put on a 2004 f150 5.4l. And also if theres ever been any probs with overheating win towing with efans. By the way, trailer is 27' TT weighing ~7200 pounds. As always any help would be appreciated.
I'm relatively sure the fans can handle the cooling needs of your engine, but I'd be much more worried about my tranny if I were you. I'd either get a tranny temp gauge or tranny cooler or both if I was gonna do a lot of towing.

just go on ebay. buy a stock fan off a mustang GT or a crown victoria. get a relay, a thermal switch and a manual switch to turn it on when the AC is on and ur idling.
Right now I have the trans cooler that came with the tow package, as for the trans temp gauge I not sure how to install one in the new 4R75W trans in my truck, and still keep factory sensor for the computer. any help with that!!!!

i just installed troyers fans ... very great setup and NO PROBLEMS cet one .... well i was taking off the mech fan i had my keys with remote start in my pocket. needless to say lesson learned... im on day three after my truck remote started and my fan played tag with my hand. after driving myself since noone was home to the ER in my dads stick shift truck!!! on icy roads .. almost pulled over n called 911 i got 37 stiches total ... some in each finger a torn tendon and no use od that hand
but i slowly finished with the help of my dad today and the fans work great!!! it picks up a bit faster and through all rpms! great kit just remember TAKE BATTERY OUT FIRST!!! trust me i learned. and this is from a full time mechanic. i guess we all make our mistakes and i hope none of u go through this!!! but troyer had everything pre wired and very good instructions with detailed info and photos of everything. would highly recommend it!! BE SAFE!!

You can always set it to run both fans always, might be a little more drain on the alternator, but the battery works as a buffer.
The other question is whether to make the fans ignition on only, or able to run with engine off. Lots of cars do the latter, and it helps with the temperature spike you get when you switch off, so I'd say that is the way to go, you just have to be careful around the fans....and a shroud's the way to go.
I have a 92 and I'm probably going to go with a used fan similar size to the original, so I can re-use my shroud, and mount the fan to the shroud somehow, or maybe get a oem shroud with the fan and see if I can fit it.
Cheapest controller I can see at NAPA is a probe through the radiator type, I suppose it beats drilling and tapping holes in the head or thermostat housing - and I'm not sure that'd be the best place for it. Probe looks to be stainless so electrolysis shouldn't be a problem, I figured I'd put a little dielectric grease on it, just to be sure.

if u leave the fan on all the time.. then u will burn the motor up.. the fan is not needed when the truck is moving only ad idle.. ud be wasting power and dragging on the alternator more often showing u no gain in performance. also with a manual switch u can kick it on after every pass down the track incase they start hot lapin
