i think it was in 2001 or 2002 that they started supercharging all of them.
for the amount of money people want for lightning engines i would get a 5.4 that is already built up and put an aftermarket supercharger. lightning motors are good but they're not the best of the best.
if it was me i would be putting another stock 5.4 in the truck and running it into the ground. you can go through 3 or 4 stock 5.4's and spend just as much as you would for a complete and stock lightning motor. there are alot of people running around out there with stock 5.4's and a supercharger with minimal problems.

2000 didnt come supercharged only like mentioned above, in certain models, but has anyone out there done it? because i dont feel like replacing a motor every time..but yet i wanna go wit a supercharged engine, im asking where can i get one, and if anyone has done it?
I always wondered - I see brand new Lightning Superchargers on that ebay site all the time - People who get them from a full blown crate motor or something - don't pay much attention to it and probably in the wrong forum for this question, but just curios , are these something you can just bolt on a stock 5.4L ?
ProCharger is the best out there - for 5 grand $$$$$
These lightning Supercharges I've seen from $800 - $2000

i think the stock lightning supercharger requires a lightning pcm for things to work properly.

Modular 2V engines are very tough. The rods and pistons suck for high HP. Some also change the crankshaft, but plenty of Mustang guys make good HP with the stock crank. We have a few Modular HP guys on here. Contact Neal here. I'm sure he'll shoot you straight.

only different between the 5.4 and the lighting 5.4 is the lightning has low compression dishes pistons.. both wil handle about 700 crank hp before the rods separate. JL is still on stock forged 5.4 crank.
