Engine Swap

Probably just time, tools and help! I can't see there bieng that much difference, but have to ask why? What's wrong with the 4.6? You can boost power just the same, seems silly to switch just because one is a bit more powerful, if the 4.6 has bit the dust than get at er. There are folks in here that have done it, didn't seem too laborous or having to switch a whole bunch of crap etc. Have fun.

You would be better off with a 99+ 5.4. It has more power than the 98 and it will take the same amount of labour to make it fit. Wire it using your 4.6 harness. Lengthen the oil sending unit wire and extend the IAC wires. Fab up brackets and or extensions to attach the coil packs to the 5.4. Make sure you get an 8 bolt flywheel with a new pilot bearing. Pull tho old engine and fit this one in. Have a custom chip burnt to accomodate the extra cubes. You will also need a muffler shop customize the collectors. The 5.4 has a higher deck so the collectors are at a different hight and angle. Then start saving up your money for a new tranny. With the extra torque I would install a girdle on the 8.8 differential. It muight bite the dust too.
