Mass air flow sensor free mod

I heard that if you buy a 33k OHM Resistor and put it in your mass air flow sensor you get Better Gas Mileage, More Horsepower, and more torque.

Will this hurt anything?

This is where I saw it here: http://diycars.tripod.com/iatsensr.html

Same gimmick as the ebay "chip" mod that guarantees 20 hp+.

Stay away from it. Yes, it will hurt something.

If that was true, it would be in from the factory.

Sounds like a bad idea and a good way to turn the check engine light on to me.

Just to clarify, the link you provided says IAT, as in Intake Air Temp. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is different than the MAF sensor.

Sounds like a bad idea, "confusing the cars computer"? I mean, reprogramming an ECM with carefully chosen and tested parameters is one thing, but this doesn't seem right. I doubt it would hurt to try once in awhile to see if it helps your 1/4 mile ET or something, but long term is probably not a good idea. I know I'm not trying it on my truck.
