Thought I had Piston Slap

Bought my truck at 83,000 miles. At 90,000 it started making "the noise" when cold and up until a week ago (144,700 miles now) it has been getting worse every year. Based on the threads here I thought I had piston slap. I've tried different brands and weights of oil and different filters but nothing helped. I put Rislone in and Lucas another time. Neither helped. My oil is ready to be changed and was a little low so I just threw a bottle of Marvel Mystery oil into to see if it would do anything. The noise is now 99% gone. I started it up the last few days with temps in the 40's and 50's and on one startup I heard the noise come on after it had been running a few seconds. It lasted about 5 seconds and was barely audible. Normally this noise would've been very loud and last for several minutes. How does Marvel Mystery oil help and what did it do? Thanks.

I have similar problem

My 2001 supercrew is making noise at startup. A tapping that I thought was the timing chain. It has gotten louder over the last 2 years and is worse in cold weather. I replaced timing chains tensors and guides and the engine still makes the same tapping noise. As the engine warms up the noise goes away. Also the noise is louder when the engine is put under load while cold.Does this sound farmiliar? If it does then I need some mystery oil.
