Thanks To All - Information Invaluable

I've been lurking and reading here since I bought my F-150 XLT Supercab in September of 1997. Lots of great information here.

Normally I do most of the work on all my vehicles myself. Just kind of raised that way. Well, I was down after my hip was replaced in the spring of 2003 and person I know said they would "cut me a deal" and "freshen up" my pickup with tune-up, brakes, passenger window repair and a few other little things that needed attention.

To make a long story short, the truck came back and was running kind of decent for something with 122,000 miles on it. Well, not too long afterwards, it started missing, both front calipers starting sticking and the window stopped working. Either bad work or cheap parts. So, I just fixed it all myself.

Went out and bought an AutoTap OBDII reader and started looking at the codes. 304 on this, that and the other cylinder. I changed all the spark plug wires and spark plugs and cleared those up.

Then I had 0701 and 0704 come up. Got to looking and the mechanic had not secured the air filter housing to the intake / MAF housing.

Bought some "filled calipers" at Auto Zone and a pair of rotors. Brakes are once again outstanding.

Truck is running great once again and the mileage is running along at 154,000 and counting. Just as nice to drive as the day I drove it home from the dealer!

My wife's 2002 Expedition just flashed a 1401 the other day. Looked it up on this site and called the dealer. Yep, recall item, no charge.

This is a great site for us that like the Ford F-150's and Expeditions.

Thank you all!

Kind of like when you replace a worn out old tie rod end. All's healed up right nice and I can walk again without a limp, pain or cane! Sure did put that off for the longest of times and now I don't know why I waited to get it done!

Thanks for asking!

Glad the hip turned out great, I may be looking at that myself in the not too distant future. Three posts since 1998? You better slow down!

Yes this place is awesome. Everyday, you see where someone gets good advice or assistance in solving a problem.
