20mpg!
The only way I believe mileage claims is if you do multiple full tanks back to back. there are too many factors, especially consistent fill, to claim that you get great mileage; especially on a short trip.

Yet, on two consecutive tanks of gas (mostly interstate driving) the mileage averaged 20MPG.
I did not state that it was consistent; just that I got it on two tanks.
It is a matter of comparing apples and oranges to compare two trips to consistent mileage. Consistently I get 17.5-19 mpg. It varies....as it should, due to driving conditions.
My big question is this: why question someone's integrity because they state that they get good mileage on a couple of tanks? Mike Troyer has posted in the past that he has gotten above 20MPG in his Lightning. Why has no one called him out on it? Perhaps it is because he won't tolerate being put down as one who doesn't tell the truth
Please consider what you are saying before you question someone's integrity.........you can be glad that it happens for someone occasionally, or just pass us on by and not worry about us....that would be a blessing. This post was to let folks know that it can indeed happen for us, so that others could work toward that goal if they wish.
Regards
My 98 F-150 2WD SCab with 4.6 L V-8 and 5 speed transmission normally gives me 20 to 22 mpg on the highway.
Of course it helps is you make believe there is a raw egg between your right foot and the gas pedal!

I wonder what I could get if I kept the truck at 70 on the interstate?
dad drove to joplin and back (kc) and got 21.7 on the way down with a slight tailwind, and 19.2 on the way back, cruise set at a few ticks above 80 he said.

Just drove from NY to VA last week on I95. Filled up twice at 330 miles (still had about 1/4 on the fuel gauge) and averaged 19.5 mpg heading south (70-75mph) and 19mpg heading north (75-80mph, 85 in Northern VA@5:30am). This is pretty consistent for my truck. I average about 19-20 mpg on interstate driving and I generally drive around 75mph on the interstates.
My truck is a 1999 F150 Ext Cab 4x2, 4.6L, stock except for a K&N Filter and I have a tonnoau (sp) cover.

On the flat and level, my edge reads an instant mpg of 18.5 at 55 mph.... The best gas mileage I ever got over a complete tank (398 miles) was 18mpg. EVER. And that was babying it at 50-55mph. I find 20mpg claims at 90mph to be a little hard to believe. The drag coefficient is so high at 90mph that it is not possible to drag your truck through the air at that speed and still get good gas mileage. My edge reads 11mpg at 95mph on flat and level. Point being, if you get 20mpg in your f150 at any speed, you should never sell it.

Only once my truck accomplished 20mpg and that was on a trip to PA from Michigan - I was going through Ohio traveling the turnpike. That all went away as soon as I hit PA - had fun in the mountains - didn't care lol
18 mpg
I have an 04' fxr 5.4 and I get 12-14 mpg in town and 12-14 mpg on the highway at 65-70mph. BUT if I bump my speed up on the highway to 85-90mph I get 17-19mpg dunno why but it's true. My buddy bought an 05' diesel and his was the same way when we drove to talladaga last year.
sorry not tryin to hijack this thread but is chester's signature pic of the f150 towing the trackhoe around a total photochop or what? i thought for sure it was at first then noticed the trailer actually had a front tow dolly axle hooked up between the trailer and the truck which would remove the insane amount of tongue weight from the truck? i know stupid question but i just have to know..lol
