After the fiasco with the 97-02 head design they still have not got a dependable system? Lets see how long have aluminum heads been in general production, what about 15 or 20 years? And these idiots can't design a head that is reliable and doesn't cost a fortune to have the plugs changed.
Sad but true Dr Franko and the new defective plug design for 05 & 06 is much more serious than the Superchips Distributor in previous post #7 is letting on. The Ford warranty dept would be delighted if you guys all followed Superchips advise and tried to remove your plugs. Those of you that have problems will be screwed and your warranty voided because the plug failure will be blamed on you and your failure to follow proper procedures. The cause of the failure this time is not the threads, it's the long metal-shielded electrode extension. The creaking sound is from this shield being forcefully turned against the carbon built up and seized around it. Not all the plugs will creak but those that do can break and guess what happens next? Yep, pull the head. There is no advantage to pulling the plugs in the first place because the carbon will build up and seize the electrode within 10-15000mi again anyway. At least these plugs will not blow out so just enjoy the truck until it needs a tuneup then trade it in.....if anybody will take it...
