injector cleaner causing rough idle?
ive been having a pretty rough idle the last few days so i changed out my pcv valve and a few other hoses that were corroded, and im still getting the rough idle. I remembered that last time i filled up my tank i threw in some injector cleaner. I forgot which kind i used but i know it was enough for a 24.5gallon tank. If anyone has anyone ever had this problem or might know what the problem is any help would be much appreciated.
Try cleaning your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. It sits on top of your throttle body, and is held down by a couple small bolts. Use "throttle body cleaner" to clean it with. Do not use brake cleaner or WD-40, etc. Use an old shop rag to wipe the excess gunk off after you spray it off. Also, you can use q-tips to get to the hard to reach places.
Note: There's a little spring in there that can get gummed up pretty good. I just spray it really good with TB cleaner and blast it with compressed air to get all the gunk out of the spring.
Be sure to disconnect your negative battery cable before you start to do this, because you have to unplug the IAC's connector to take it off. After you have cleaned your IAC, plug the IAC connector back in and reconnect your negative battery cable.
Go turn your key to the "ON" postion, but do not start your truck. Watch your gauges. They should do a full right sweep, then return to their original positions. That means your trucks computer has been reset, and all sensors have been recalibrated.
See if that helps.
That cured my rough idle.

yeh B-12 or gum out cleaner will work on both the IAC MAF and throttle body.
but yes likely the injector cleaner is causing the rough idle... thats how it works its thick and doesn burn to well in combustion process but because its thicker it grabs more particles along with it when it is run through the injectors thus cleaning it somewhat.. but the best method of cleaning injectors is have it done at a shop it only costs 65 bucks usually and they unplug the fuel lines and plug in their canister with usually B-12 or InjectorKleen and its injected through the rail usually at 65-70PSI and its blasted through the fuel rail and injectors and cleans them out... and the vehicle is started and run on this stuff till its out then it dies.. hook fuel lines back up and ur ready to go.
