Thoughts on Engine Cleaning

I am getting ready to replace coil packs, injectors and plugs. What are some thoughts on doing a conservative engine clean the night before I do the job and air blowing all the water out of the crevices after spraying? "No direct pressure spray of course".

If you're planning on replacing those anyways... have at it! As long as you aren't throwing water in there with high pressure, you aren't gonna hurt anything that you aren't replacing.

when i clean my engine out i put tin foil over the potentially harmful components, or anything that looks like it could be and spray some simple green all over it and take a water hose with low pressure and rinse it off. Simple green usually does a good job unless you have some permanant stains in there.

While I do clean the pushrod motors, the 4.6L still has all the factory dirt due to in my opinion too much electronics to wash.
