Alternator Question

Would a bad alternator effect the RPM's of your vehicle or cause it to miss during acceleration? Thanks!

No.

Be more specific about your problem, and we can go from there.

missing during acceleration could be your fuel filter clogged among other things.

98 Lariat, You can refer to my previous post for "need help" for the specific problems. I just noticed that many on this site stated that if your battery light comes on under acceleration, it is usually the alternator. Mine comes on at high RPM's and I was wondering if this could be causing my RPM surges etc? Just a thought!

It may not be causing your miss, but if the battery light comes on at high rpms, you need an alternator. It will die very quickly. The battery will keep you running for a little but you won't get far. I'd replace it before it goes out all together.

My best guess is that you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Check around the PVC elbow... As for the altenator, read this post:https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=247407

Don't believe AZ or AA about your altenator, when they test it, it's at idle or just above... Technically they are correct, it's not bad... But it's on its way out.

Actually if the alternator is going south and creates enough RF interference then it could casue a miss. Set the alternator fixed/replaced and go from there.
