99 f150 cam sensor signal/fuel system

99 f150 cam sensor signal/fuel system

hi all, my 99 f150 4.2 died had to jump the fuel relay to start..showed various codes including 0340 cam position sensor so i replaced it and still nothing...if i do not jump terms..at the fp relay i have no fuel and also the mileage(digital)odometer will not mark just shows ------. when i jump the relay to get the fuel system to work the odometer works and the truck starts...the only other codes are 1520 i.m.runner control circuit fault (?????) and 0443 evap purge control valve circuit malf.. and various tranny codes..please help thanks

What terminals do you jump?

terminals

i jumped the main relay terms..30 and 87 and 86..was more of a hit and miss thing...

Was the cam sensor broken when you replaced it? Normally what happens is the sensor breaks (usually from the sychronizer binding up) and gets mangled by the reluctor wheel inside the synchronizer. If you left a piece of the magnet from the old sensor in the synchronizer, you'll still get a no-start.

i did not notice any debris..but i will recheck i still have the old one i will get back as soon as i check...thanks

Check fuse #23 in the Battery Junction Box.

will double check ..just wondering does the defective cam sensor (if it is that)cause the fuel pump relay to trip and also keep the odometer from reading properly>????does the intake runner control valve code tie in to all of it i have never pulled that code//??thanks for the help all...this old lone star edition 99 looks to good to be parked...

Fuse #23 sends 12v to power amoung other things the Cam sensor and the IMRC.

ok here come the codes i pulled...0340-cam sensor+1520 imrc+1747-elec press cont solenoid short+0443-evap emm. cont sys purge control valve+1409-egr evr control circuit fault+0750-shift sol a+0755-shift sol b+0743 torq con clutch elec.+1451 man specific powertrain+(these next ones are o2 sensor related and are prob. due to the fact that the "cats are running empty" been like that for awhile)and they are 0135+0141+0155+0161

Codes 1520 1747 0443 1409 1451 0135 0141 0155 0161 all have Open VPWR circuit as a possible casue. Check fuse #23 in the battery junction Box.

thnks for the info. i will update as soon as poss..i have been very busy lately i have the county road dept. account and they decided to repair several of their big rig a/c systems..business has been good this mth. i do appreciate your help..by vpwr circuit you do mean power to the #23 fuse??

That fused circuit is the vehicle power circuit. If that fuse is burnt then the circuit will be open.
