bent spark plug electrode

hi all,

i have a 98 f150, 4.6L with 80K miles. i just had the electrode on the plug in #1 cylinder bend. the truck ran fine, i was towing a trailer, then the check engine light came on and the truck got sluggish. i changed the plug, it ran fine for about 100 miles, then the same thing happened. pulled the new plug and it was bent as well. i regapped the plug and it seems ok for now.

running 91 octane, the truck is super chipped, and i have a K & N fipk.

any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

May be caused by a foreign object in the combustion chamber or the piston striking an incorrect reach (too long) plug. Causes a dead cylinder and could result in piston damage.

If this is the problem repair the mechanical damage. Remove the foreign object from the engine and or install the correct reach plug.

carbon build-up on the piston?

i,m not sure if this is possible but what else could get in there. cylinder #1 is easily accesible so try shinning a flash light down the hole to see if there is anything in there.
