Question HOw many o2 Heat Sensors in 1996 f_150?

Hi I got the codes that tell me that my 02 Heat sensors are needing replacement. I got the Haynes book, but it only shows where one O2 heat sensor is located for a Bronko! Not much help!

what I need to know is:

1. How many O2 Sensors my 1996 F150 has.

2. Where they are located.

Anyone?

Thankyou!

Which engine do you have?

There should be four. There are two upstream and two downstream. I believe that you only need to replace the upstream. I you follow the exhaust from the maifold back you will see the upstream O2's just before cat, on both sides. It's considered easy to replace them but there are a few tricks that make it easier. Take a good luck before you take anything off so that you can make sure your prepaired with the proper tools.

O2 sensor whereabouts

Thankyou!

It is an In line 6, 4.9L . The codes I got were: PO 155, PO141, PO135. My battery voltage is fine. Funny how i've been to two different places, and each "expert" has told me different things:

1. "Your truck only has three O2 Sensors."

2. "They are not all the same type."

I'm no smarter, but i'm not getting paid to pretend either.

It is extremely unlikely that all three (that's how many you have) sensors' heaters all developed a fault.

Check the heater supply circuit.

I wasn't paying attention to the details. You said you have a '96. I was assuming you have a '97 or newer which would have four O2 sensors.

I should have paid attention to the details.

I know a lot more about the Triton engines that I know about the 300 I6.

Wottom, no problem!

Wottom, I appreciate your feedback regardless! thankyou all! I will keep you guys updated. I think I located two of them. They are bluish in colour. One of them looks easy to get. The other is underneath the exhaust and in a hard to reach area. Nothing a little swearing couldn't help!

I Have pictures!

See my previous post. It is EXTREMELY unlikely that the sensors are the problem.

It's your money, waste it if you want to....
