Alternator
Alternator
I posted this on electrical but nobody seems to know the answer so forgive me if I am not suppossed to post it else where. Basics: Replaced 1998 ford f150 engine. Replaced it with a 94 CV. Both were 4.6 triton. Everything bolted fine everything interchanged. Started it today ran fine with a good battery but battery light was on. Ran for 30 minutes guages went dead truck died. Bought new alternator replaced battery connectors replaced belt charged battery. Truck ran good on idle. Showed 14.5 approx. Turned head lights on voltage went slightly down turned headlamps off voltage went up. Seemed like normal. Kept turning headlamps on and it started to drain 14, 12 10 then 8 all guages dead truck dies. Charged battery started truck pulled connection terminal truck dead.
Loose connection somewhere? Missed sensor? Broke wire? ground wire not connected? Fuse blown? I don't understand, if you don't know maybe you have a suggestion even if it sounds crazy. Do you think it will show codes on the problem.
Someone said the computer may not recognize the different motor but there are no sensors or any other connections to the new motor. I used my intake, psp, knock sensors, cylinderhead temp sensor.exhaust.
Thanks

I suspect you've answered your own question, ie broken/loose wire, I'd add short to the list - sounds like your alternator is fried either a diode or something with the regulator. Is it possible you've shorted something or connected the battery in reverse briefly? Jumper/booster cable use can also cook your alternator if you're unlucky...
