EGR problem? Code P0405

I have an ongoing problem with my 2002 4.6L SCrew with 56,000 miles. In April the SES light came on and it was the P0405 code. I did a little research and thought it was the DPFE so I bought one at the dealer and swapped it out. Code came back. Called the dealer to schedule an appointment and they said they could not get to it for 4 days, so I took it to the local Firestone (not my best idea ever). Anyway after about 6 trips to the Firestone and after they swapped out the DPFE several times, put in a new sensor in and cleaned the throttle body and EGR ports it had gone away for about 45 days, but it came back again last night on the way home.

Does anyone have any information on this error code that is not on the web? It appears that Firestone can't really seem to find the answer, either. Don't get me wrong, they have been nothing but professional with me and have eagerly taken me to work and brought the truck back to me when complete - so no complaints with the service - only the fact that this problem is back again.

Please help!

Check for a "skint" or pinched wire. (If it's not the DPFE sensor).......

Don't see any bad wires, but I'll check it out again. Vacuum check was fine on the lines. Does anyone think it could be the EGR valve itself needing to be replaced?

The DPFE stands on the two metal pipes off the main metal pipe.
Look closely for a crack between one of these and the main pipe.
The code 405 is not listed but 1405 is and refers to a problem with the hose/pipe sampling hardware to the DPFE.
