That's a new one on me. If the order is stamped on the engine, that's what the order is.

Interestingly and oddly enough...the "old" firing order (15426378) is exactly the same firing order of the "other" manufacturers V8's. SBC, BBC, Chrysler V8's, caddys...etc. They're just numbered different. Dont believe me? Sit down and think about it. Draw 8 little circles, 2 rows of 4 and number them 1-4 on one side, 5-8 on the other. This is your Ford engine. Then do the same thing, but number it like a Chevy or Chrysler V8. You'll find that they're identical except that the "others" are numbered differently. Or wait...maybe the Fords are numbered differently since the others are the same.

Is the glass half full or half empty?

Talking thanks

Thanks to all, been away from the mechanic stuff since 1969. I thought I was right about it, if it is on engine that is what it is.

Presuming the engine is completely stock and hasn't been "worked" by anyone, then yes, the firing order stamped on the engine should be the correct one.
