no spark 86 f-150

no spark 86 f-150

86 f-150 300 ci 6 cyl; 1 bbl carb. parked the truck last november; fogged engine, removed battery etc etc. tried to start it up this spring and no spark. engine turns over fine. distributer is rotating. getting power into the coil. changed the module on the distributor and still no spark. any ideas????

I guess you should look at the low-voltage side of the distributor, like the condensor....I've never thought about it, but (assuming there is a condensor) freezing mightn't be too popular with them.

You haven't seen power coming out of the coil, checking the coil itself ought to be next I suppose....there should be something on the site or something with procedures and values for checking the coil, or you could just swap it on spec, but I don't imagine you want to replace everything...

replaced coil yesterday, same results. no spark: will attempt to trace down wires this morning looking for a break or bad ground. any suggestions????

no luck finding a broken wire or bad ground. will pull the distribotor today and have it checked out. almost close to pulling the tfi system and replacing it with the old duraspark II

Check the wires in the connector to the TFI module, and the pick-up coil. while some one cranks the engine try wiggling and pushing those wires up in the connector (TFI) and see what happens. Ive seen it before when oone wire backs out just enough out of the connector to not make contact. Another thing to test would be your pick-up coil in the distributor.
