Hollow sounding clunking

I know I seem to have a small exhaust leak, usually when cold. After installing my fans, a noise I had heard for a while is more prevailent now. I had my trust stethiscope out and it is on the passenger side, and sounds like rod noise, or what rod noise used to sound like in old style engines.

Anyone have any experience with this type of noise or info.

I am due for an oil change in a few miles, will probably take it back to the dealer and have them listen to it.

Sorry to hear man. I had a 302 that made that sound and it turned out to be two burnt pistons. Definately take it easy on it. Best of luck to you.

I had a Grand Marquis that developed a knock at idle.. It sounded exactly like rods in the engine.. I safely crawled under it to get a better listen and it turned out to be the ceramic honeycomb in the passenger converter had come loose and was knocking around at idle. I hope yours it this easy .

This one is louder on the passenger side than it is on the drivers. Luckily it is still under warranty. I just need to get it to them to check out.
