I did, but I installed a set of mil eliminators on my rear O2 sensors... You can make your own but I spent under $15 on a set(I think they were $11, they were delivered to my house and I haven't had the light come on since. I installed them in March I think. www.killswitchcentral.com Be sure to get the 2 wire kind.

i cut the silencer out of mine a while back and wished i hadn't. the sound changed very little if any and i think it caused top end to suffer. a smooth air flow through a little pipe would be better than turbulent air flow through a knobby pipe.

i made an itake for my truck a few months ago with black 4" abs pipe. it turned out quite well and i did feel a slight gain from doing it.

Looks good, and I bet it does the job. I respect homemade equipment.

Only thing i would suggest is having a wider inlet into the fender. I took my stock rubber seal and glued it to the end of 3" rubber cupling from homedepot for 6 bucks, helps out a lil

The other end just slips right over the end of the air box.
And i did the K&N ovbiously

i did open up that end too. i cut the hole in the inner fender out bigger with a sawzall and cut the end off the airbox and presussure fit a 4" to 3" rubber adapter there with a piece of 3" abs into the inner fender and a 90 degree piece of abs pointing forward to pick up air coming in around the signal and headlight.

i actually thought about putting a bunch of these together and trying to sell them but i figured in the end that it wouldn't be worth my time and i would probably end up getting sued if someone's truck caught fire or something stupid.

Nah. See, I'm still running my stock muffler and pipes. I saw a moderate mpg gain(from 13mpg to 15mpg) about the time I cut them off, but I don't know if I could "definately" attribute it to that. Also, I don't do the same thing every week. So my mileage runs from 8-18mpg from day to day!

I've also seen a HUGE mileage gain with this Edge that I'm testing, but I don't understand how. I've been stomping it every chance I get... and I'm still at 15mpg! I think that my pcm had a horrible program in it from the factory. My truck's acceleration was good at low rpms but as soon as I hit 3500+- it just fell on its face. The Edge has seemed to fix that too. (I don't doubt that any tuner would)

I've driven other F-150s that were the same as mine, they had more power from the factory(than mine did), and they got better gas mileage. So I think that my results are ATYPICAL to say the least. That's why I'm not bragging about the mpg gains from the Edge all over the forums. Also, I haven't used it enough to say for sure that's what's happening.

I hate it when people try to trick you. So, if I say that something gave my truck more power, it's definate! I have my own drag strip, so I try different junk all the time. And the gains I saw from removing my cats were pitiful. But that's not why I did it....

Not long after I had my cats cut off, I unhooked the muffler (right under the cab), and took my air filter out. I ran it in my drag strip and gained 2mph. That's why I'm not sold on exhaust and performance air filters. That was with NO exhaust and NO filter!

One of these days, I'll take the silencer out and let ya'll know what happens.

Ok, Patman got me doubting myself....I was nearly positive that it had that silencer, so I went to my truck and unscrewed the 2 hose clamps holding it on. I took the same screw driver, and wedged it in between the silencer and the wall of the intake tube, and pried it apart. Then I pulled it out through the rubber "accordion" hose without taking it off. (the hardest part by far) Then I re-installed the intake. The whole procedure took about 30 minutes, but the hard part was wiggling the silencer through the "acordion". I can't tell a bit of difference (seat of the pants) in power or sound, but I only made a quick run to the Interstate with it. It might be louder when I pull something.

I did 4 WOT runs with the truck. 2 0-60 runs and 2 1/4 mile runs.

According to the edge, the 0-60 runs showed a 1.3 second loss from the previous day's experiment. But the previous day's experiment was done in the middle of the afternoon with an IAT of 130 degrees. So, that info was useless.

I did a 1/4 mile run last night at about the same time and same temp as today. I did 2 more 1/4 mile runs tonight. (one with the a/c on, and one with it off) My fastest 1/4 mile run was: 17.12@79.8mph. My run last night (before silencer mod) was 17.2@79.8mph. I don't know if this .1 sec would be classified as a *real* gain or not. I don't think that removing the silencer hurt performance any.

Best run:
17.12@79.8mph = 1/4mile
10.87@64.5mph = 1/8mile
2.58@27.51mph = 60'
