help?? where is my low side cap to recharge my a/c???
i have a 2000 f150 4.6 v8 and the a/c gets cool but not cold. i bought the r134a kit to do myself but i cannot find the place to fill it.. i have found the high pressure cap but the low pressure (the one i need) i cannot find anywhere.. if anyone knows where it is please let me know asap. i found it on my 2 other cars in like 1 minute but on the f150 i cant find it.. please help..
I don't know if its the same on your truck, but on my 01 f-150 with the 5.4 its located on the accumulator or receiver/dryer whichever it is. Its the big silver can by the battery with insulation wrapped around it. The low port sticks out the top side and has a black cap over it. Hope this helps.
For future reference:
The low side connector is smaller in size to the high side. If a person bought a recharge kit it will only fit the low side. Which is located on/near the receiver/drier tank.
My '97 5.4 had poor A/C when I bought it. At every stop it would get noticeably warm. Took it to Ford and they told me all was fine. Drove it for a while and took it back again. Everything checked out OK. I borrowed a friends R134 gage set and checked it myself. All pressures were in acceptable range, but on the mid/low side. Bought a recharge kit and filled through the low side while running till the low pressure gage read 40 or 45 lbs which ever is the max allowable. Now it'll freeze you out.
