Body removal for engine change

Is is better to remove the body to do an engine swap in a 97 f150?
I heard that this was a way to make it easier, is this true or false?
Thank you for your help.

Given an opportunity to remove the body, i'd do that after having done a 5.4 swap in my '99 4x4 through the hood. It's do-able and not that bad getting it out, it's just getting everything off the motor that's easier with the body off. Thats how they do it at the shop.

If you have the tools and equipment to remove the body, then go for it. If not, you can still do it with the body on.

In a pickup, pulling the engine from the top isn't too bad. The trickiest ones are probably 5.4 liters with external oil coolers, since the oil cooler and it's hoses tend to get hung up on the driver's side motor mount bracket. If I was doing any major in-vehicle repairs like heads or head gaskets, I'd lift the body. My back bothers me too much to spend all day leaned over the fender into the engine compartment.
