Engine Swaps
Engine Swaps
I have seen a lot of people doing engine swaps in their F-150s.
What is the maximum weight for an engine in the 97-03 frames?
How much does the V-10 weigh compared to the 5.4L?
Are there any diesel conversions for the F-150 being done?
Any information you have about different engines that would fit in the F-150's would be great!

Unless you have alot of time on your hands,or money flowing from your pockets go buy the truck you really want and dont worry about it interest rates will never be this low again. Just my opinion . I was thinking about the same thing and realized i would not be happy in the long run if it didnt turn out just right.
The main thing is that the V10 is a big engine, and its a tight squeeze in the engine compartment (not that it cant be done). Ive seen a few threads in here about people comtemplating it but I dont think anybody has actually done it yet.
As for the front end weight, that problem is easily solved...just swap in some 7700# payload torsion bars from the F250LD/7700# F150 package and you should be good to go.
For diesel conversions, again I havent seen any on here, but if you are determined to do it there is nothing you cant do. There are diesel engines out there that will fit in our trucks, you just have to do some fabrication to make it all work.

Yeah i would love to swap in a V10 into my 95 F150. But the money factor of this would be major. So i am thinking i am going to do a 302 built from the ground up or a 351. but if i can get a V10 for cheap and swap it in hell yeah i will
I'm still waiting for mike to call back to see if he can bypass the PATS to make it work(v10 swap)in my truck, Thats the last puzzle piece for me

ive heard of people puttin diesals in their 150s, but i think it would be a stupid idea to put somethin like that in a lil truck, & all the things u would have to do, fuel system blah blah blah
Thanks for the info s1037s. I can't afford a new engine right now let alone a new truck. Right now I am just going to keep my 2000 running and look at my options when money isn't as tight.
Could the F-150 frame with 7700# torsion bars handle an engine that weighs around 1000 pounds?
